Brian & Jan Dunkelberger
Sisters, Jan & Jill Strassburg grew up in nearby Fall Creek and credit their dad with their love of horses. Much of their early childhood was spent watching their uncles compete in WI Draft Horse Pulling Competitions, until they each received their own riding horses in their early teens.
Brian's introduction to horses came after he and Jan married and began farming and raising Red Angus cattle in SW Minnesota. The nature of horses came easy to Brian as his first ranch horse and he were partners for over 17 years.
After that, his interest turned to driving horses and following a suggestion from Jan & Jill's dad, he settled on the versatile Haflinger horse to pursue that new interest.
Over the years, Jan, Jill and Brian have enjoyed and participated in many various activities with their horses from wagon trains and trail rides to open and fun shows, ranch work and cattle sorting, and educational horsemanship clinics.
Brian also has used his teams for weddings, town celebrations and other special events. Jan had the pleasure of serving for a couple of years as the horse instructor at the non-profit organization, Reinbows Inc. of Windom, MN. They all agree that one of the greatest things about horses is the friends and acquaintances they've met along the way!
Between the three of them, their horse family today consists of Quarter Horses, Haflingers, a Gypsy Horse and a couple of Shetland Ponies.
